Right to life acquired early - zygote/embryo stages. A woman has the right to control what happens to her body. A zygote does not have a right to life. Thomson: questions whether a fetus"s right is stronger than a women"s right. Rejects premise that a right to life is always stronger than a women"s right. Right to bodily control vs. right to life. Case 1: woman becomes pregnant due to not taking precautions. Page 57: fetus has a right to life. Woman has a right to control what happens to her body. Not taking precautions = fetus has the right to life. Case 2: becomes pregnant due to rape, failed precautions. Fetus does not have a right, abortion is permissible.
