Parliamentary and presidenial systems: what are the key diferences between us and canadian. While both canada and the us are democracies, both countries are run diferently: canada: parliamentary system (bilingual, usa: presidenial system. Canada, sill under the briish monarchy has its head of state being the queen of england who is generally represented by the governor general. The head of government however is the prime. In the usa the country is run by the president who is the only head of state within a presidenial. Note that congress has two branches, the us senate and the us house of representaives. The former is appointed for six years and the later is appointed for two: generally speaking, the hor iniiates revenue based legislaion, while the later approves foreign treaies and government nominaions including the supreme court. The supreme court is the inal judge in all cases involving laws of congress.
