A pretty arbitrary subject because politics are self-congratulatory. Democrats, communists, etc, all believe in historical determinism - that their own system is the end goal of human development. Sharia law does not make a distinction between secular and religious life. Suggests a process rather than an end point, and is the implied norm measure nowadays for international political development. According to the freedom house, democratization is achieved when civil liberties and political rights are present. Therefore, democratization involves more than just government structure - it also involves relationships between the government and their citizens. Almond and verbal (1963) explain that political culture is a political group"s belief structure. The beliefs represent a social framework that is independent of institutional factors. It is shaped and taught by the political beliefs we are exposed to. Political culture can be split into 3 types: Parochial: when constituents are dissociated from the government, viewing it as an off-limits realm for the elite.
