26 views2 pages

Document Summary

Developing nations face a youth bulge from explosive fertility rates. This is opposed to developed countries, whose populations generally have lower fertility rates. World population is booming due to technological and health development. Most of this is occurring in developing countries. In countries such as ethiopia, a larger family means additional labor and a larger income source for the family. Unfortunately, a booming population can impede these developing nations. For example, in middle east, there is very high levels of youth unemployment - meaning the government has to support the needs of more people who can"t support themselves. China"s population control method, the 1- child policy, has helped stunt population growth and achieve economic development. Urbanization is happening particularly quickly in poorer regions of the world. It is expected that the amount of people living in urban areas in africa and asia will double. However, megacities pose problems in terms of affordable housing, crime, and transportation.
