Libeal: cooperation, progress, change, people learning, multiple actors persuing multiple agendas. Nobody can make states do what they don"t want to do. You can"t rely on other actors, there"s no trust. They all have the same solution for how they achieve survival. That"s are rational, gain maximizers and loss minimizers cause survival is the key problem they face. 3 main types of neo realism: structural realism. Almost always this is the version talked about when someone says neo-realism. The units within this structure-states- don"t matter as individual units. They all face the same challenge and by that logic, they will answer the same way. This theoretical version states difer not by type, variety, regime they differ by power. Doesn"t matter if it"s a democracy, authoritarian or other. It still faces the problem of maintaining their survival regardless of the regime. Narrow understanding of the world, but also relatively clear cut. Within a decade, walts ideas came under an attack.
