As they had to figure out things to help figure out things in different way, independently: due to their appearance, won"t be given so much responsibilities and treated like a boy. Recent research early maturing: may have more emotional difficulties, more likely to become involved in deviant activity. Because she is getting along with an older crowd and getting exposed to adult things she isn"t developed/ready for. late-maturing: less difficult time, not so easy either, treated differently in terms of responsibility, and behavior. Early versus late maturation differential effects for males versus females. Early maturation for girls --> many more disadvantages than it does for boys. Possible explanations: deviance hypothesis: the idea that, there is a bulk od adolescent going through development at the same time.
