RELS 203 Lecture Notes - Lecture 29: Kevala Jnana, Digambara, Jiva
Document Summary
Kevalin experiences no hunger thirst, no nourishment to live, ceases all bodily activities. He teaches by emanating a sound that can only be interpreted by his most developed followers. Kevalin does experience all that, he is a highly advanced human being, but still a human being nonetheless. Mahavira has been doing that after his liberation. World is finite, there is a measurement of this rope that expends. One rope which is a distance travelled for 6 months with 10 mil. Slightly curved place is the place where liberated people live afterbirth, a place where you never leave. 1- jiva true self: eternal, immaterial, inhabited all of your past bodies. It takes the form of the body it habits. 2- material things: there are things that are inhabited by jiva. Senses; touch, taste, smell, sight, hearing (introspection: sense what"s going on within the body) Nigoda (lives in other bodies)/element bodies (invisible to the naked eye)/plants.
