An overview of survey research methods structured interviewing and questionnaires. Good survey questions: ask only one question (avoid double barreled questions, are neutral, are clearly written also, consider the educational level of the sample you will be including in your study. What are response rates: response rate: the number of people who participated in a study out of the number of people selected to participate, # complete a survey / #selected for a survey * 100 = response rate. What is social desirability bias: it is inclination to present oneself in a manner that will be viewed favorably by others. Confidentiality is an important ethical issue in survey research: many survey includes some questions like income or health information that most respondents would not like revealed in a public setting. Survey respondent should be given a number (usually called a id or case id) to identify a set of individual responses in a dataset.
