There are 4 Courselink Quizzes scheduled throughout the semester
The first quiz will be available on Courselink from 12:01 am to 11:59pm Friday, October
4th (just click on the ‘Quizzes’ button on the navbar)
It will be comprised of 25 multiple choice and true/false questions
You will have 2 minutes per question for a total of 50 minutes with a 5 minute grade
period
Questions are being composed by the TAs based on content of your online discussions as
well as course reading material
Reflection Paper I
Goal of the Reflection Papers
Readings are selected in relation to issues being studied in class
Give insight into the concerns of professional anthropologists about contemporary issues
Provide an opportunity for students to test their understandings of course material against
a topic that is both of disciplinary and public interest
Give opportunity for students to express these thoughts concisely in a brief statement
Developing an Anthropological Perspective in ANTH*1150
1. Expressing opinions using concepts from the textbook in Group Discussions.
2. Expressing your understanding of an issue of both disciplinary and public concern in
the form of a brief statement (200 words) in the Reflection Statements.
3. At the end of the term, writing a short essay (600-700 words) synthesizing your
individual anthropological perspective as drawn from the three reflection statements and all
course material.
These activities will contribute to the development of the university learning objectives of
Global Understanding and Moral Maturity as well as others.
How to Write the Reflection Statement
Set aside an hour or so between now and Sunday evening.
Review the article and your notes on today’s lecture in the context of all concepts covered
thus far.
Reflect on this material and identify the one or two key thoughts that come to mind.
Develop these key thoughts into a 200 word statement .
Procedures
Submit your 200 word statement to the drop box file labeled ‘Reflection Statement 1’ by
11:59 pm Sunday, September 29th.
TA will use 4 criteria to evaluate your statement : conformity with requirements (format,
font size, word length, etc.), seriousness, evidence of having read the article and academic
integrity (correct use of appropriate anthropological concepts)
