Imhotep - architecture - the pyramid and mortuary of djoser. Imhotep created the first step pyramid: a pyramid is just an expanded mastaba, the structure is a staircase to the sun and the entire structure is to protect the tomb, ra - sun god. Imhotep had an engaged column - this means it was attached to the wall of the building just simply for aesthetic reasons: an entire system of false doors and rooms that led no where. Limestone: pyramids of menkaure, khafre, and khufu, cut stone, would have had smooth sides unlike the djoser pyramid.
