Small, young hippies to enormous and important movement. Developed a brand: orange suit, us vs. them, good and bad. Good vs bad of fame, destroyed their image with an error, arrogance. The public was harder on greenpeace for making mistakes than on shell. Bearing witness: connect the crisis to the public by bringing them to the scene of the crime. Put the public in the situaion and force them to make an ethical choice. They did this through visuals, like the whale vs harpoon. Sampling error almost destroyed them, they had to rebuild their image. Need to be in the public eye through media to get public funding.
