These disasters are presented to us as an anomaly. We fail to take global/historical approach to them. Collective amnesia; everyone forgets about a disaster. The idea that climate can be impacted by industry is not new; 120 years old. Failure to provide this is huge public health problem. Ex: london/thames river: human waste, dead animals, no street cleanings, poor health because of this. New tech improvements bring about changes in goods & how we transport them. The revolution drives imperialism (the search for raw material) The division of work into a series of simple tasks. Steps are more defined; 1 person = 1 task, 1 factory = 1 specialty. Ex: farmers used to make a sweater from wool from their sheeps that they raised. Now, each person/factory would do 1 step in making a sweater. The enlargement and depersonalization of the unit of productions (factories and plantations)
