BIOL 1080 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Posterior Pituitary, Anterior Pituitary, Endocrine Gland
Document Summary
Slide 3a: oxytocin usually in woman for breastfeeding (ot, hypothalamus -> posterior pituitary gland -> breast, also present in men. Slide 3b: from diagram: gt- calcitonin pth- parathyroid hormone, hormones involved in calcitonin homeostasis: disease is the failure of homeostatic failure. Endocrine gland (ie. adrenal gland) : 2. Hormones of the pituitary gland (neuro endocrine): first picture shows hormones (oxytocin) from the posterior pituitary, second picture shows hormones (growth hormone) from anterior pituitary. Slide 5b: thyroid gland deals with metabolic rate, cortisol deals with stress response (longer stress hormones, testosterone deals with reproduction, all these examples start at the hypothalamus and through the anterior pituitary.
