As with rarity, so with isolaion not all forms of spaial isolaion for populaions are similar: same: small populaions, low gene low, diferent: geological an evoluionary backgrounds. Darwinian islands: never in contact with the source of colonists (mainland); abundant empty ecological niche space. Populaion size: ex. two locaions with otherwise idenical diversity, distribuion, evenness, or any other measure that us typically measured. Let because it has a smaller populaion growth. The homogenizaion of habitat condiions and species around the globe, as a result of human acivity: ecological: specializaion, evoluionary: reverse speciaion, ex. over grazing, ire suppression, acid rain/ nitrogen polluion. Control: diferent species doing diferent things in diferent contexts, with strong asymmetric compeiion. Eutrophicaion: the same species doing the same things in the same contexts, responding similarly to homogenized environment. A large fracion of the world"s species diversity is of recent evoluionary origin, and has evolved as by-product of divergent adaptaion in heterogeneous environments.
