Agile methods are useful, adaptable, and promote teamwork and creative development. As discussed before, it is very hard to plan things predictive methods are not very useful for software development. Adaptive methods focus on changing things based on context as the situation evolves, so does the product and the methods of development: adaptive methods focus on the current or the short-term rather than the long term. What agile is not: agile is not an unstructured free for all where the developers do what they feel is right, the flexibility and acceptance of change does not mean that it is trivial. Unix is an operating system that was built by dennis richie at bell labs in collaboration with mit, it is very popular and has been ported to nearly every hardware architecture in existence. 40 years old, and is still the most widely used system in the world. Portable can be moved to another machine or architecture easily.
