Sextia (someone in the offices had to come from the plebs) Romans received their name on dies lustricius, (cid:834)day of cleansing(cid:835) (baptism) Boys at 9 days and girls at 8 days, they were presented in public and ritually cleansed. Prior to that day they were not officially recognized by their family or society. Naming = becoming official in roman society. On the baptism day the boys would receive a bulla, a pouch of sorts that would contain spells and charms to protect the boy as he grew up (warn away danger)
