Unit introduction: towards digital convergence, digital convergence is the idea that you will eventually only need a single device for all of your multimedia needs. In contrast, digital media is set of values that when played in sequence can create the same ray of light. This is particularity visible in the music and video industries, where the digital format allows greater control over the final product. In the publishing and photography industries, the analog format is still quite prevalent, since some people consider it to be of higher quality or because they simply prefer it over the digital version. This is the path that smartphones and tablets have been taking since their introduction. Today, smartphones can be used for pretty much everything, with actual voice communication being one of the lesser-used features. With the digital age, these devices (cellphones, smartphones, and voip devices) have changed from using analog signals to digital signals.
