Terror regarding opening/closing door (bridging external life to unconscious) Lamented christianity leading to a split between body and soul (detrimental to creativity) Otherworldliness" (business world needs to have ghosts apparently: connected to a deteriorating marriage too. Idea of being watched/watching becomes crucial factors in wharton"s stories.
