Warm air will begin to rise which will develop a circulation cell. Those two cells are thermally direct cells; they are affected by the gradient of heat. 0-30 - hadley cell: named after george hadley. Middle cell is not driven by heat; thermally indirect cell. Called the balbaran of the three cells. Its spinning because of the way the other two are spinning. There are two high pressure zones, where air is descending. Clear skies, two global high pressure zones. Hadley cell: air is coming up, moving southward in the lower part of the troposphere. Because of the coriolis affect it is deflecting to the right. Ferrel cell: moves along the surface of the air, air being pushed northward. It is being deflected to the right. Winds are being dragged southward from the north pole. Deflecting to the right because of the coriolis effect. Intertropical convergence zone: not a lot of wind, fairly calm conditions along that area.
