A1 is divided by the type of energy source that will be most used. Starts with representative concentrations: then run climate models while developing scenarios that would lead to those concentrations. Pros: the climate model is the second step instead of the 3rd. To project future temperatures we need to know co2 concentrations, which rely on the scenarios going on in the world. The climate models that use the output of the scenario models: the co2 outputs are essential in estimating future temperatures. Includes ocean circulation patterns and atmospheric chemistry etc. important for calculating future climate. They used to be very simple, they are now more complex including many aspects of the earth used for projecting future climates.
