ENVS 3020 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Hans-Georg Backhaus, Ecotoxicology, Jargon
Document Summary
You will have an opportunity to think about the aspects of science communication you consider most important. You have learned many of the key facets of pesticides and the environment as well as their interrelationships. How well you can communicate the information you have learned is a good test of how well you understand it. Take advantage of the time you have this week to develop your research proposal. Science communication or scicomm can be defined many ways but typically denotes making research results understandable, relevant and interesting (see reference and optional resources below). Scientists typically write manuscripts that contain a lot of jargon and detail which can make it difficult for people outside their discipline to understand or want to understand their results. An effective way to incite interest is to relate the results to something people understand and value (e. g. , climate change)
