Term foraging is supposed to be inclusive of many techniques of collecting food. Foragers are food collectors, as opposed to production/producing food. Sometimes referred to as hunting/gathering, and people as hunters/gatherers also referred to as nomads, are nomadic and move about. Complicated activity must know where to find animals, what techniques to use, what plants are good to eat and when they are ripe. Requires movement ! must move around a large territory, often by seasons, harvesting animals and plants when they are particularly available in a large territory. Extensive land use ! need to be able to move about extensive ecozones when food is available in those areas. Stereotypes: men hunt, women gather ! has its origins in the biases of the anthropologists and not in actuality within the communities.
