In anthropology we don"t just preoccupy with ourselves, but seek to understand those different from us. Physical/biological anthropology: based on the fact that human beings are mammals and biological members of the animal kingdom. Primatologists: recognize that humans are primates who are closely related to the other great apes like chimps, gorillas, and orangutans. Medical anthropology: a field of physical anthropology that combines biological, social, and cultural factors studies health, illness, nutrition and disease and recognizes that most cultures have an indigenous medical system of practices/beliefs. Forensic anthropology: field that combines aspects of physical anthropology, archaeology, and crime-scene investigation interested in human remains. Applied anthropology: field of study"s central concern is applying anthropological knowledge to the understanding and possible solution of various human problems.
