Not suitable for night, because there is no solar radiation at night. It is not as hot in a valley where there is irrigation, because it uses a lot of energy. Can be a heat source, or a heat sink. Source example: warm front, air moving in horizontally. Sink example: cold front, heat will be drawn from the surface and drawn to the atmosphere. How can p be an energy sink? when photosynthesis is occurring, it doesn"t reach the surface, it is being drawn from it, and used for photosynthesis. How can p be an energy source? if plants are set on fire: global temps, temp concepts and measurements, principal temperature controls, earth"s temperature patterns. Thermometers: made because they expand and contract as a function of temperature. Three types: mercury, alcohol, electronic (thermistor - resistance based) Professional thermometers are placed within stevenson screen: this is so the sun doesn"t affect the temperature.
