Time spent with family decreases: 28 min per day with parents. Time spent with same sex friends remains stable: 103 min per day with friends. Adolescents are more likely to talk to friends about personal issues and parents about educaion and career ideas. Who provides with the most emoional support: 4th graders: parents, 7th graders: parents and same gender friends, 10th graders: same gender friends, university students: romanic parteners. Can tell friends anything and they will understand. Close friends accept them for who they are. Quality of relaionship with parents has an impact. Direct and indirect inluences: pool of peers, communicate approval or disproval, parening styles. Adolescents are generally in a more posiive mood with their friends: friends are also the greatest source of negaive moods.
