Characterize the oversimplified notion that a demographic rend has a catastrophic consequence for society. Agism at the macro level how do we blow this out of proportion and talk about the aging population. Is it a problem that needs fixing: aging is a social problem. Do we discuss aging in the context of problems: homogenization of older people. We talk about older adults as if theyre the same. The reason we don"t have pensions is cuz the boomers are taking it all, no hospital beds cuz boomers are dying, etc. Older people get more than their fair share often an argument about pensions dependency ratios are the fave tool of voodoo demographers ex. It"s a better investment to hire this younger person than older person . We often hear age blame in subtle msgs: intergenerational injustice. Who should be getting resources, who should we be investing in.
