Full day kindergarten implemented fall 2010-since then there has been more advocacy for and importance put on ensuring ontario children have access to quality early childhood education. Ontario ministry of education has released documents to help ensure educators are implementing quality programs. Elect in 2007 has 6 principles that have been integrated in many programs. Early child development sets the foundation for lifelong learning, behaviour and health. Partnerships with families and communities strengthen the ability of early childhood settings to meet the needs of young children. Respect for diversity, equity and inclusion are prerequisites for honouring children"s rights, optimal development and learning. Play is a means to early learning that capitalizes on children"s natural curiosity and exuberance. When we have strong and competent images of children, families and educators these beliefs will be reflected in our programming. Ontario"s pedagogy for the early years is for early learning in ontario on the importance of relationships.
