Does not address the other social determinants of health. Various problems around the social determinants of health. If do not make enough from job, they get money to bring them up to the minimum. Rights revolve around end of life issues. Belief that age dictates ability, personality, roles, etc. So many types of discrimination but ageism is one of the last isms that is still considered socially acceptable. If not treated equally, their human rights are taken away. Where do we see ageism? ageism can be for both old and young ppl. Home- family may see them as a burden rather than as part of the family. Workplace policy- may not be valued, pushed out of workplace when no longer contributing. Recreation and leisure (i. e. gym, older drivers) Research/theory i. e. study only includes ppl up to age 65, think that cognitive impairment can prevent people from giving consent- not true! Most worried about the old-old population (85+)
