Research is dynamic and ongoing social process that constantly throws up new relations and issues that require constant attention, self-critical awareness of ethical research conduct must pervade our research. Many geographers don"t write about the research process in their published work. We are not accustomed to examining our engagement with our work with the same intensity as we regard our research subjects. A process of constant, self-conscious scrutiny of the self as a researcher and of the research process. Issues about which you need to be reflexive. Power can enter your research through the stories, or interpretations, you create from the information you gather. Subjectivity involves the insertion of personal opinions and characteristics into research practice. Objectivity has traditionally been emphasized in geographic discussions of quantitative research methods. Intersubjectivity means that neither you, your participants, nor the nature of your interactions will remain unchanged during the research project.
