Sex (biology) -> sexed category (male/female) -> gender (natural) -> (hetero) sexuality. Buying a girl a doll, cause she will born to be a girl. We do it to ourselves in society. More exible than essentialist view: gender is created , alternative (postsuctural) view. Someone is born with a sexed body, they are given a gender due to what they are born, but they don"t have to follow traditional values. All of these little actions we do everyday of a process, we don"t really think about it, we create it through all kinds of pressure and acjtions to create a gender in a human being. Ted talk: gender identity: gender is whats in your head. You don"t really know what someones thinking unless they express it: gender expression: masculine or feminine (two separate scales) Can change depending on who you are acting with and why: biological sex : physical traits you are born with and can develop.
