All intellectual property and patents were directed to the allies (very much a rape of the country) Was only allowed to produce a fraction of the steel it was allowed to produce pre-war. Many people, whether vernacular or academic, pushed back against the ally interests saying that punishing them so harshly would only create conditions for the next war so they were in favour of bringing. Germany back into the fold so europe could unite and all take a stand against communism. Force of personality: (each having a speci c vision of their own for what they wanted europe to look like postwar) Regular guy, not interested in another war or being involved in. Europe at all because they were busy with their own empire. Not retreating, red army is not going home causing a federated system of soviet satellite states. Winning the war, but losing the peace? (eastern europe?)
