The white narrative mentality that was one of the known factors in the civil war proved to be a difficult for americans to disassociate with. White americans still believed that african americans should remain submissive and inferior with no opportunity for political power. I(cid:374) wol(cid:272)ott(cid:859)s a(cid:396)ti(cid:272)le, lunch counters, department stores, movie theaters, and public parks like crystal beach all saw violence of varying degrees.
