Invented by rca in 1949: affects the rise because they were a lot cheaper to produce, and they were a lot less fragile. If black artists wanted to access the middle class, they had to change: there was the black man stereotype, had to remove the sexual lyrics. It is very light with the metaphor of sex. It"s old sex so it"s okay: this song topped the pop chart and the blues chart.
