Beatles lookalikes on star trek, etc. (from last week) The beatles, rolling stones, etc. inspired kids to start their own bands in a way that brill building pop had not. Grass reaction: garage band movement kids buy guitars and learn to play, jamming in the basement/garage. This will become punk and indie later on. A lot of them were signed, it was the age of one-hit-wonders. One of these groups was the kingsmen one hit was louie louie . This song has a lot of the same elements as british invasion riff, hook, guitar solo intending to be virtuosic (it isn"t really) You can"t hear the words because they had only one microphone so vocals are buried in the mix. The swishy-swishy sound was caused by phasing and destructive interference (too many things going into the mic) unintentional effect encountered by amateur garage bands. This song caused a stir when released because they thought it was demonic!
