It changes according to genre and musical era. Tempo: the speed or pace of the music. Homophony: multiple melodic lines, where one is often distinctively higher than the others and plays a distinct melody. The remaining lines are accompanying voices that work together to articulate an underlying harmony. Polyphony: consists of 2 or more independent melodic lines occurring synchronously.
