Little richie memories of the railroad and listening to the elders influenced his music ( just old folks stomping their feet and moaning and groaning ) Took boogie wookie & mixed it with blues . Early 50"s he made a name for himself for south audiences mostly he sang the blues. Sept 1955- an independent company dependency records brought him to a studio, didn"t want to sing boring songs wanted to sing more current youth inspired song tutti frutti (a new sound) White section wouldn"t play his records (black records) white kids had his record but they wouldn"t put his record on the radio. White artist did a cover of his song tutti frutti" (pat bonne) Bring a huge level of energy to his preformances. He can sing with a raspy tone but sound so healthy in the way he pushed a note. Blues influence w/ pounding piano most famous for.
