Document Summary

Nowadays, it"s clear that the citizenship-as-common-rights model isn"t enough, since many groups who have common rights are still marginalized, e. g. blacks, women, indigenous peoples, ethnic and religious minorities, gays and lesbians. Citizenship isn"t good as you only vote because we are not just voting machines. Whatever common rights we might have in the role of citizens, you can grant everyone with the right to vote but you will always get the same results because we have marginalized groups. Example: canada values individual anatomy (without the interference of others, self-governing) About the world we live in today and people have different ideas about what it means to live a good life. You should be able to make choices for yourself to be self-determining. Do we grant them the right to decide for themselves, principles to live by, education that their community should have, religious clothing, religious commitment etc.
