Social model of disability (social constructivist) disability is a feature of social relations within society, not a feature of individuals themselves. Medical model of disability (realist view) disability is an innate feature of individuals. Disability is located in the social arrangements which disadvantage a certain group of people. )mplicit ontological assumption: there is no such thing as a (cid:494)normal(cid:495) human body. Implicit ethical assumption: society has the moral obligation to promote the flourishing of all of its members equally. On a the medical model of disability (not as found in the ada): disability is located in the (biologically inferior) body of a disabled person, disability is not located in social arrangements.
