Sensorimotor sub-stages and object performance: birth to 1 month, 1-4 months focus is on reflexes no op ( object permanence) Random reflex leads to action- can be repeated. Random event {not a reflex} leads to an action- may be repeated. Beginning of op {retrieves partially hidden objects: 8-12 months. Op, but can be easily confused ( a not b errors: 12-18 months trail and error problem solving. Op more developed, but still not complete: 18-24 months first signs of symbolic functioning. One month old sucked on one of two pacifiers.
