Document Summary
What are the descriptive methods: survey: a method of gathering information about many people"s thoughts or behaviours through self-report, e. g. , telephone survey on the attitude of the people working to make politician, correlation. Correlation methods: purpose: to observe the association between two variables (the extent to which they concur, often will use surveys in this case is to look for co-relationship between two or more variables. Correlation coefficient: a measure of association between two variables that caries in direction (positive vs. negative) and in strength. Negative direction: as one goes up, the other goes down: the strength of the correlation coefficient refers to how close the dots are to form a straight line. Correlation is not causation: the mere co-occurrence of two events does not mean they are causally related, maybe both are related to a third variable, which is causing them, classic example is self-esteem and depression, experimental. How do we find out about causation: by using experimental research.
