Damaged/abnormal brains-gives us clues in how the brain functions when parts of the brain are damaged and not working anymore. Finnues gage: while working on a railway got a metal rod shoved in his skull, and was able to remove and he was still alive, nothing changed except his personality- went from polite to asshole. Split brain patients: prevent seizures to cut bridge b/w hemispheres in brain. Changing the rain (eg; chemical numbing) happens in animal research.
