Document Summary
According to empathy altruism hypothesis people are not primarily selfish, at least not always! 14 white and 8 african american: study was conducted in the us. Participants were given 160 dollars to participate in this study. Went under function magnetic resonance imaging (fmri) procedure. The study consisted of five experimental blocks, during which the participant viewed 10 threat cues with no shock, 2 with shock and 12 safety cues in variable order. Electric shock was delivered to the participant while they were either holding hands with the friend, a stranger, or no one. Two electric shocks were applied to the participa(cid:374)t"s ankle and their friend"s ankle.
