Document Summary
Good behavioral scientists are always alert to their experiences and ready to apply those experiences to their research. Informative research ideas are hard to come up with. Having an idea of a research interest (ex. Depression, nurturance, memory etc) is only the very first step in developing a testable research idea. Before even being able to start the research project you have to determine exactly what aspects of your topic you want to focus on and then redefine these aspects into a research design. Your research must be based on previous research done by others. A good place to start research projects is by determining whether you will be performing basic research or applied research. Also, a good starting point is by thinking which research method is most adequate to test your research questions. Many behavioral researchers develop their research based on real world problems because they are concerned with these human problems.
