PSYC 2390 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Horopter, Depth Perception, Lisa Lopes
Document Summary
Elephant: large visual eld: actual size, proximity to object: If you are close to something it will be smaller. If you are far from something it will be larger. If something is close to you and you are moving forward, everything is moving backwards (as it seems) If something is far away from you, you are moving forward, everything is moving with you. Motion based cues: relative motion/ motion parallax, accretion / deletion, motion in depth. Deletion: something close can cover something up in the distance. Accretion: as the object close to you moves, the object in the distance comes back into your eld of vision. Looming: as something is coming towards you such as a baseball, it gets closer and closer. Comparison of left eye image and right eye image. Example: when you put your thumb out in front of you.
