Transduction: changing energy from one form to the next for vision we need light, Our body does not know how to interpret light directly. Hit bones, cause fluid to move creating electricity. Mechanical energy ultimately changed to electrical energy through neurons. Remove some of the letters and replace with a cough, people still understand word. Cell body: caries genetic information that tells the neuron what to do. Dendrites: part of the neurone that receives the information. Width of axon (charge is travelling down axon, bigger the faster) Myelin sheath: allows information to move much faster when myelination has occurred. Voltmeter: stick one part in the intracellular fluid, one part in the extracellular fluid. Allows a oscilloscope trace to be done (graph) Action potential: electric charge that travels between one neuron and another. Allow sodium into membrane for 1/1000 of a second (1 millisecond) Potassium is then kicked out of the axon (carrying the intracellular fluid)
