PSYC 2390 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Retinal Ganglion Cell, Strobe Light, Depth Perception
Document Summary
The ability to see things that move and change. Some animals have no binocular depth percepion or colour percepion: however all animals have moion percepion (it is criical to survival) Moion deines object form and can aid in object percepion: grouping by common fate (grouping in 2d) Ex. group of dots that move together over top of unmoving dots can be seen and a shape can be deined. Animals know they can freeze to appear invisible, but they can"t be: biological moion: johansson figures when they are moving. Light emiing diodes on the joints to track moion. Can"t tell it"s a person from staic images, but can when they are moving: can even tell sex, mood, etc. from moving spots of light. Moion and visual-motor coordinaion: moion cue can tell you when something is coming at you in depth (looming) but it also tells you when to move out of the way, moion and balance.
