Colour perception is not needed for survival, but motion perception is. As soon as person moves you know they are a person, you know what sex they are. Motion is also important for depth perception which is important for visual motor coordination. Motion and balance: optic flow the movement of things across the visual field (results in blur, swinging room experiment babies see wall swinging towards them. They lean back when it looks to be coming toward them, and lean forward when it looks like it"s going away from them. The first frame"s dot is in one corner and second frame"s dot in opposite corner. Distant in time between the first and second frame will determine what is seen. If the time in between is less than 30 ms, we see one frame that has both dots in it. If the time in between is 60-200 ms, we see the dot moving.
