Meningiomas (~20%): encased in meninges (membranes for protection), encapsulated, usually benign, removable: can cause neurological symptoms of various types due to compression, contour is deined around the edges due to membrane. Metastatic (10%): they originate elsewhere, usually the lungs, cells from the tumor are detached, travel through the bloodstream, and move to colonize in other areas: multiple spots. Aneurysm: weakened point in a blood vessel. Blood clot coagulated blood, fat in the bloodstream, droplets of oil/fat (cholesterol), air bubbles. Thrombosis: a plug (thrombus) forms in the brain. Embolism: a plug from elsewhere moves to the brain.
