People in milgram experiment continued to shock people. Milgram showed that people acted this way under control from an authoritative figure, to show the way the nazis acted in germany. Argued that milgram should have put more emphasis on well being and safety of the participants. Book called tearoom trade for homosexual encounters in bathrooms. Would be on the look out, and would secretly follow people to their cars. Using the police station he found out where they lived, disguised himself and did a follow-up interview. Found that these individuals were just typical people. Became very significant because of the ethical debate. Did not have informed consent, they did now know. Would embarrass and charge the individuals (b/c its illegal) No one knows the people who are being studied (even researchers) Often impossible; the researcher often knows who is being studied but they don"t tell anyone.
