The goal is to minimize the risks, and maximize the benefits when conducting research. Federal, provincial, and municipal levels must be contacted and research must be verified as acceptable from each in order to conduct your research ethically. This is to keep the privacy of participants from the public, and keep everyone safe. Free and informed consent is necessary, as participants must always be aware of the activities they are participating in, and what information may/may not be shared. You do not want your subjects to feel vulnerable and powerless. All people should be treated with equal respect and concern. We should not use vulnerable people just because they are easy to access and research. We should only use this sample when is is legitimate and significant to the study to use this sample. People should be aware of why they are being approached (inclusion/exclusion justified by research).
